The Studios at SST

The Studios at SST are built around a simple idea: great records start with a great room. Designed by renowned acoustician Sam Berkow of SIA Acoustics, the facility reflects the work of one of the most influential figures in modern studio acoustics—and the creator of SMAART, the industry-standard sound measurement and system optimization platform. 

SST is also home to a remarkable piece of recording history: Focusrite Console #9, one of the original Focusrite consoles designed around Rupert Neve’s legendary ISA 110 microphone preamps. After being severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy, the console was painstakingly rebuilt using parts from another historic Focusrite desk—work that brought this rare piece of recording history back to life.  

Over the years, SST has welcomed an extraordinary range of artists, producers, engineers and touring professionals.
